A multi-modal dataset, protocol and tools for adaptive biometric systems: a benchmarking study

چکیده
Adaptive biometric systems have received a recent spurt in biometric community. These systems have the additional capability to adapt themselves using biometric data available during the system’s operation. Although several studies have been proposed in this field, no conclusive evidences can be drawn about the expected performance gain on making the biometric system adaptive. This is due to the adoption of different and inappropriate databases, protocols and tools for evaluating adaptive biometric systems. This paper presents a benchmarking study to facilitate fair comparison and independent replication of the results from different research groups. To this aim, this paper describes DIEE multi-modal database consisting of face and fingerprint biometrics and a protocol tailored for adapting as well as evaluating adaptive biometric systems. In addition, several tools for evaluating and visualising the performance gain on making the biometric system adaptive are provided as well. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to benchmark database, protocol and tools for evaluating adaptive biometric systems operating in verification mode.

Evaluation and analysis of a face and voice outdoor multi-biometric system
A biometric sample collected in an uncontrolled outdoor environment varies significantly from its indoor version. Sample variations due to outdoor environmental conditions degrade the performance of biometric systems that otherwise perform well with indoor samples. In this study, we quantitatively evaluate such performance degradation in the case of a face and a voice biometric system. We also ...
متن کاملAdaptive Authentication System for Behavior Biometrics using Supervised Pareto Self Organizing Maps
The biometrics authentication systems take attentions to cover the weakness of password authentication system. In this paper, we focus attention on the multi modal-biometrics of behavior characteristics. For the integration of multi modal biometrics Supervised Pareto learning SOM(SP-SOM) and its incremental learning method for implementing adaptive authentication system are proposed. Key–Words:...
متن کاملUser-Centric Key Entropy: Study of Biometric Key Derivation Subject to Spoofing Attacks
Biometric data can be used as input for PKI key pair generation. The concept of not saving the private key is very appealing, but the implementation of such a system shouldn’t be rushed because it might prove less secure then current PKI infrastructure. One biometric characteristic can be easily spoofed, so it was believed that multi-modal biometrics would offer more security, because spoofing ...
متن کاملForecasting Industrial Production in Iran: A Comparative Study of Artificial Neural Networks and Adaptive Nero-Fuzzy Inference System
Forecasting industrial production is essential for efficient planning by managers. Although there are many statistical and mathematical methods for prediction, the use of intelligent algorithms with desirable features has made significant progress in recent years. The current study compared the accuracy of the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Adaptive Nero-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) app...
متن کاملProposed Multi-Modal Palm Veins-Face Biometric Authentication
Biometric authentication technology identifies people by their unique biological information. An account holder’s body characteristics or behaviors are registered in a database and then compared with others who may try to access that account to see if the attempt is legitimate. Since veins are internal to the human body, its information is hard to duplicate. Compared with a finger or the back o...
